This is what I look like as a cartoon

Hurrah indeed!
why do you never post about racism? Presumably you do not care about it as it affects men as well as women
Steve,
I do, for example here and here.
What’s wrong with London? It’s a fantastic place! (And yes, I have both lived and commuted there.)
Nothing wrong with London at all - until you move out and realise the quality of life you can have elsewhere. (And I’m from London and proud of my home city - I just don’t want to live there).
It’s crowded and smelly and expensive… And it’s too far from the rest of the country
London has great quality of life. It has everything a person could ever need - great people, great places, great open spaces, easy to get round most of it, great restaurants - the lot.
And it’s hardly “too far from the rest of the country” - it took me only two hours to get from London to Belfast yesterday. What part of the UK can boast shorter travel times to everywhere?
Tim - proud to be London born, taught and resident.

Congratulations Antonia! Can’t wait for you to join our team.
And especially delighted you won’t have to leave Oxford - best place in the world to live.
Congratulations, Antonia!
(Every time I manage to get another job that doesn’t involve leaving the city I love and moving to London I mentally pat myself on the back. Do you not fear that the day will come, though?)
Hello Emma,
Yes, unfortunately, the day will come when in order to do what I want to I’ll have to move (or, more likely, commute) to London. But I’m putting it off for as long as I can, because I quite like having evenings, thank you very much, and because (it may sound stupid) but I like the local Labour party here, and they seem to like me. Having a congenial CLP is so important, don’t you think?!
