Going, going, gone…

What a charming B&B in the Highlands of Scotland! Take a look, scroll to the bottom of the page and see what stipulation they put on the occupancy of their double rooms… And then say thank you to LCLGR and Stonewall for their lobbying, Alan Johnson for accepting the amendment and all the MPs and peers for voting to make this type of discrimination illegal.

I know it happens: I didn’t realize people were so shameless about it. I am somehow (not quite sure why I should be, but I am) even more horrified by it than I was before.

As you say, kudos to those who worked to make this illegal, as well as bigoted and absurd.

    Damn right.

I think there’s something we can finally 100% agree on Antonia. ;)

I’ve stayed in this B&B (on my own)and I found them to be good, friendly people. We may not agree with our fellow citizens who think that gay sex is sinful but we should accept that many otherwise decent people do believe this.

Personally I think that people providing accommodation in their own homes should be allowed to discriminate on the grounds of sexual orientation if that is what they want to do.

The real bigots are the people who are trying to bully a minority whose views they don’t like. Stand up the purse proud, unelected prat Lord “I’m more important than you because I’m very rich” Alli.

Erm, isn’t this exactly what homophobia is? I presume that you also think people providing accommodation in their own homes should be allowed to discriminate on grounds of race, or political beliefs? I am quite sympathetic, in that I would be tempted to agree that I should be allowed to discriminate against morons such as yourself. But no - that’s not the civilised response.

Comrade Jak - thanks for your comment. There’s no law that says you can’t turn people away because they’re stupid! ;-)

    Horrible.

I can only assume that they believe a homosexual couple will get up to NOTHING in their single beds. Any hetrosexual couples would normally always stick the beds together, or jump in the same single bed together.

I see no reason why the same wouldn’t happen here.
I presume they are assuming that something MUST be happening if they are in double beds, obviously homosexuals are horny all the time.

Paul, you can’t always change peoples personal opinions, but personal opinions have no place in a business.

Luckily, I head up to Wester Ross quite a lot for some relaxing breaks, beautiful area… Palm trees in Scotland! I’ll be making a special visit to this B&B next time I go up (around Easter) ;)

They aren’t discriminating on the basis of “orientation”, whatever that means, but probable behaviour. And it’s not illegal to discriminate against someone on the basis of practising homosexuality, thankfully.
