I’d join this campaign
Ms Formescue said yesterday: “The whole thing has been a complete nightmare. I was so angry that I wrote to Mr Blair returning my Labour party card. I now want to form a charity, Voices4Mothers, so that women can put a lot of pressure on ministers. These men should face criminal prosecutions if they fail to pay and be ‘named and shamed’ with pictures on websites if they disappear. We need a group like Fathers4Justice, though we should not do the daft things they did.”
I reckon it’s about time there was a pressure group for mothers left holding the baby.

Dammit, Antonia, is that the best you can come up with? A f***ing name ‘n’ shame website and some piddling criminal prosecutions for men who fail to pay their way?
Do you have any idea how little men have to pay for their progeny?
Let me tell you:
Its 15% of disposal income for one child, 20% for two, 25% NO MORE for three or more. That is up to 16 or the end of full-time education (ie 21).
And a helluva lot of that is theoretical. Males have endless excuses (they’re self-employed, they’re in receipt of a loan not a wage etc etc) for not paying.
And the CSA does jack-s*** about it.
Antonia, please, don’t just e-polemicise about this, organise and agitate for us.
Start up Mothers4Justice. You can do it.
Go fuck yourself Maria.
Now, that’s made me feel better about your patronising tone, so I can answer your question reasonably. Yes, I’m sure we could do much better for women and children with a real campaign. If I could fine out how to get in touch with Ms Formescue, then I’d like to be invovled.
As a dad with residence my experience is that noone wants to know about absent mothers, still not received a penny ever from my ex.The csa know where she lives yet have done nothing in 7 years.
Too much demonising of fathers in the media in my opinion, there are good and bad parents - whatever the gender.
As a dad who was rejected after the birth of my son by a woman i had married and later learned was involved in radical feminism but failed to mention it to me, i am somewhat a little bit bitter. I pay child support, never defaulted and have had to spend thousands, then represented myself in court once the money ran out. I have a shared residence order now and do not claim the csa reduction i am entitled to.
This is not 2 legs good 4legs bad animal farm stuff. There are good and bad in both sexes.
I am in a new relationship with a woman who wants children. I would like to know that i will not suffer the same fate and be regarded as a cash cow. I would love more children and would love to be a caring husband or father. I fear that i may be too damaged to commit as the pain of being discarded and deprived of a relationship with my son was too damaging to me emotionally.
I know single mothers who have been deserted and suffer, they have been the best help i could ever have. Lets kick the battle of the sexes out and bring in a queest for humanity.
