I hear, from me scources, that Mr Steele has accepted a formal police caution on this matter and as far as I am aware that means he has accepted the full facts of what is being claimed i.e. that he forged the signatures

Classic Labour Council cockup.

Removing asbestos while residents are still in the property without sticking to HSE laws and regulations, and sending letter to those tenants 5 weeks later stating "Oops, there was Asbestos present". Despite the fact that Asbestos was discussed at a council meeting between contractors and councillors 6 months before the job began.

You are so much holier than thou!

I didn't spot the "not interested in chasing girls" bit, but the rest I did!
Thats the problem if you are in the Media. If you have a grudge you can use it to devastating effect! :(
It also reminds me why I steered clear of student politics when I was at Uni

One has to bear in mind r.e. the Evening Standard article that Sophie Bower's mother is editor of the paper- Bower being the girl Charlie was running against when she was disqualified running against him for OUCA presidency last term. I think there is no love lost between the two...

I personally thought the article was a very low blow and essentially homophobic, the "not interested in chasing girls bit" and picture of him hugging Ed being quite clearly designed to paint Steel as "alcohol-swigging homo, geek, law breaking Etonian". As far as I know he isn't even gay, but regardless it is terrible to see gayness being used as a thinly veiled insult.

Horrible affair all around. I have a feeling there may be more to events than is apparent on the surface, but we'll have to see what details come out of it. Electoral malpractice sucks though- whichever party or person carries it out...

It's very complicated to explain. In simple terms people are directly members of CF rather than of local groups affiliated to CF. Not all University Conservative Associations, especially some of the oldest ones which long predate the national organisation, regard themselves as being "CF branches".

Daniel I only skimmed through the article so I didn't spot any homophobia. What I did spot was an implicit attack on young Tories as a gang of toffy nosed, self important bullies, and was surprised that the Evening Standard took that stance, being a Conservative newspaper.
Tim, I wasn't aware of the differences between CF and OUCA, I assumed a natural connection. Is there some warfare between them then?

Paul - OUCA and CF traditionally have next to nothing to do with each other.
