I’m a member of…

According to Dave Osler, I’ll soon be a member of either OneUnion, Union@work or the prosaic AmicusT&G. Dreadful, all of them. Oh well, could have been worse; amongst the rejected names were Voice, Accommodate, Spectrum and United. Given that a member of the new super-union could work in almost any sector - farming, engineering, public sector, housing association, bus, freight, manufacturing, call centres - except retail, trains and fire, what on earth is wrong with The Union of General Workers?

PS: it just occurred to me that I didn’t say which side I’m from. T&G, of course. Not that there’s anything wrong with Amicus, good Labour affiliates that they are.

Cruddas on GMTV Sunday

1 December 2006 at 5:53 pm

This declared JC supporter hopes Tom Watson’s sources are good:

I understand that Jon Cruddas will be voicing grave doubts about the renewal of the Trident programme on the GMTV Sunday programme this weekend. He’ll say that his deputy leadership campaign will be used to engage the party on the issue. He’ll also say that he thought that we were mislead over the Iraq war and that if he had the chance again he would have voted ‘no’.

Update: The Daily has some extracts from the interview.
