I was very politically active - thinking and campaigning - BEFORE I became a councillor. This all became far harder and less frequent when I became a councillor. The time I could dedicate to politics vanished into a black hole of case work and meetings. Now that I'm free again I personally feel I am contributing far more to both the Labour Party and society.
