How did the BNP slur ‘Zanu Labour’ (i.e. blacks oppressing whites) become so popular in Liberal circles?

Why would Labour want to take control when you can win an election simply be not being John Goddard? Amused to see that Lib Dems at the recent County Council meeting voted every which way but Goddard when asked to endorse his belated acceptance of city growth plans.

It is certainly true that Labour have not even attempted to take control despite being the largest group (19 Lab to 15 LD).

Hi Chris,

It’s not awfully clear what Caroline would be referring to. The Lib Dems took control of Oxford city council in 2006 because they had the largest number of councillors after the last local elections in 2006. Over the past couple of years they managed to fall out with each other so badly that four of their councillors left the Liberal Democrats (two to Labour, two to the Tories). If anything, this is surely a sign that the Lib Dems found it tricky to cope with running the council?

According to my local LibDem councillor, Labour “gave up” control of Oxford council because they couldn’t cope… is that so? I would mail Beverley Hazell for her opinion but searching for her name only brings up your website (apart from a Wikipedia page from when she stood for Three Rivers council in 2002/3)…

The Respect candidate is the SWP flavour, though he is actually standing as an independent it seems.

Is it patronising to call the Conservatives Tories, too? Or does it only apply to Liberal Democrats? Did you insist that chums addressed you by your full name at school?
