As I've said before in the FAQs on this site, I support neither George Bush nor the so-called "resistance", but the Iraqi workers' movement in building a secular, democratic Iraq. |||110762410574110598|||The murder of Hadi Saleh1/26/2005 06:02:31 PM|||Antonia|||Unbelievably, the Lib Dems last night confirmed that, if elected, they would lower the age at which teenagers can get served in pubs and off-licences to 16. Of course, that would really help the police cut down disorderly behaviour on George Street and Park End Street every weekend…|||110761959145353140|||Can they be serious?3/03/2005 05:17:38 PM|||Liberal Neil|||From what I've seen of friday and saturday nights down Park End Street I'm not convined the current law is stopping many 16 and 17 year olds from drinking.
Out of interest, when did you have your first drink in a pub?3/22/2005 09:52:57 AM|||Cramlington Village Councillor|||That's the danger with pinning your colours to the mast when you're a LibDem Neil. Champagne Charlie went on Radio Four the other week and announced that LibDem policy had changed, and that he proposed, in some circumstances to raise the legal age for drinking. (I'll bet he didn't realise that was what he was saying, but not knowing what he's on about it one of Charles's traits...)

They are at St Margaret's Institute on Polstead Road at 8pm on 4th February. There's a charge of £5 on the door (though this includes a glass of wine) which goes to the upkeep of the building. The event will be chaired by Frances Lannon, the principal of Lady Margaret Hall, and I understand that the Green, Liberal Democrat and Tory PPCs will also be there, as well as me. It would be great to see as many people as possible there.
