Get Involved

Three things you can do to help Labour in Oxford West and Abingdon

1. Get involved - volunteer!

If you support Antonia and the Labour Party in Oxford, why not get more involved with the campaign? We need lots of volunteers to make sure that people living in Oxford, Kidlington and Abingdon hear about our campaign and what our Labour government has done for them and for other hardworking ordinary people.

Perhaps you have desktop publishing, web design or media skills? Maybe you could deliver leaflets in your road, or would like to contribute to the election fund? If you’d like to get involved, email Antonia.

2. Register to vote

Of course, the most important thing to do is to register to vote - don’t lose your right to have a say. If you’re not registered to vote, look at www.aboutmyvote.co.uk and www.votesarepower.com

And once you’re registered, don’t forget to use your vote. Young people are the least likely to vote - more under 25s voted in Big Brother than in the last election. So if you’d like Antonia to email you a reminder to go out and vote, click here.

3. Join the Labour Party

We need as many Labour supporters as possible to join Labour and join now.

Labour are the only party able to build a more equal society. A society where every child can go to a good school, not just an okay school. A society where no pensioner lives in poverty, and where every job pays a living wage. A society that makes health a priority. A society that recognises that it has commitments to the developing world, and delivers on sustainable development, halting the spread of AIDS and cutting third world debt.

Our opponents have shown that they don’t care about the issues that affect people in Oxford, Abingdon and Kidlington. Locally, they oppose building more affordable housing, and nationally Liberal Democrats and Tories voted against the minimum wage and against the New Deal for Young People that has virtually ended youth unemployment in the UK. If we elected either of them, they’d scrap the Pensions Tax Credit that gives help to poor pensioners.

Since 1997, a Labour government has transformed the UK. Now, we’re a more equal country and a more prosperous country. But that could all change at the next election.

For as little as £2 per month you can join the Labour party, and join the fight for an even better Britain. What’s more, your £2 will be vital in our campaign for another four years of progress with Labour.
