Local activist to learn from the Yanks21 October 2004 Antonia Bance, Labour’s parliamentary candidate for Oxford West and Abingdon, is this weekend flying to Pennsylvania to work for John Kerry’s presidential campaign. She is going in her personal capacity to spend ten days campaigning in the swing state, which narrowly voted for Al Gore in 2000. Antonia said: “This is a great opportunity for me to learn about how the Americans campaign, and I hope to bring back lots of new ideas to use in Oxford. It’s a crucial election for the Democrats, who share many beliefs with the Labour party.” “The Labour Party has always been proud of its international links. In Oxford, we’ve often welcomed volunteers from abroad to help in our election campaigns, so I hope I can help in some small way.” ENDS Notes to Editor
